LOW-BUDGET OFFICE FOR SMALL BUSINESS: HOW TO SAVE WISELY?

LOW-BUDGET OFFICE FOR SMALL BUSINESS: HOW TO SAVE WISELY?

The initial stages of a business are never fabulously hassle-free. But by calling on the necessary information for help, using the principle of thoughtful saving of resources, and having a firm intention to bring your idea to life, you can avoid many troubles.

The main problems of small businesses are connected, of course, with the lack of finance, or even their absence at all. If your project is ready to launch and you urgently need a room for administrative work, we suggest considering economical options.

An office for a small business is primarily a low-cost space, and renting it will not greatly affect your budget.

ONLY FOR MYSELF

If your business does not involve close communication with clients, then you do not need to worry about the presentable appearance of the office from the outside. A room is needed where employees can communicate with each other, participate in the work process, without thinking about the appearance of the building.

Office rooms are rented in former scientific organizations, abandoned factories and other buildings of the Soviet heritage. Renting there is more symbolic, the interior is far from modern, but the business may well survive its initial period even in such conditions. In addition, such offices are suitable for small businesses with a creative component – say, advertising agencies or art studios.

NATIVE WALLS

When there are no funds at all for renting premises, consider the option of a home office. An office for a small business in your own apartment is suitable for your business if you need to constantly keep your finger on the pulse of the process, and use the saved funds to spend on development and other pressing costs.

But sometimes renting an office space is necessary due to the specifics of the activity, and in conditions of a limited budget, options such as a business incubator and coworking are relevant.

UNDER AUTHORITATIVE GUIDANCE

In the middle of the 20th century, England created the first job creation spaces in the midst of an economic depression. These offices have become the prototypes of modern business incubators – systems that provide extensive support to entrepreneurs at the very beginning of the functioning of their own business, that is, in other words, they grow a business – that’s what they are incubators for.

A fundamental service of business incubators has become a very cheap rental of office space, and in some cases – free. Mentors of young businessmen help to establish business ties, provide consulting support, and share the necessary information.

In Russia, the first incubators opened in the early 90s, but even after so many years, they have not yet earned mass popularity. Nevertheless, some of these structures can also provide specific services – from such as free advertising of business services to the search for serious investors. For example, an incubator created at the Academy of National Economy arranges personal meetings with reputable business representatives, pays for the necessary research, and holding thematic exhibitions. Incubator “Ingria” in St. Petersburg with its huge areas helps residents to communicate with the authorities, professionally deals with projects requiring the protection of intellectual property.

OFFICE FREELANCE

For those who do not want to part with their freedom, which was presented by the freelance work mode, but cannot concentrate on working moments at home, coworking is suitable. Coworking (from the English co-working – working together) originated in 2005 with the light hand of the American Brad Newberg, who united several independent freelancers in one office space.

Nowadays, coworking centers are popular precisely as offices for small businesses or start-up projects. Just like in a business incubator, in such an office you can register the legal address of the company, because this is, in fact, the location of the CEO.

In a coworking space, you can either occupy a separate room for a certain periodic fee, or sit at ease on a sofa or armchair over a cup of tea, but at the same time, being fenced off from household life, which often interferes with working at home.

So organizing an office for your small business is quite possible and within a modest budget. When developing a business plan, make it easier for yourself the task of finding funds for rent, repairs, and other expenses, better focus on the process of direct implementation of the project and other areas that will not do without financial investments.
